Indianapolis Wedding Photographers: Star Wars Themed Wedding at the Columbia Club

We wanted to share some photos from a Star Wars themed Columbia Club wedding in Indianapolis with you and reintroduce you to a great couple, Annie & Hoge!

About the Wedding:

Wedding Colors: Plum and Grey

Theme/Inspiration: Star Wars

Star Wars Touches: Annie & Hoge love Star Wars, so they made it the theme of their wedding.  I love the ways the incorporated it into their big day; in some ways, very subtly, in others, more overt.  There are almost too many Star Wars nods to name them all, but we’ll give it a shot:

  • Light Sabers: Naturally, there were lightsabers involved Annie & Hoge’s wedding.  They first made an appearance when the guys were getting ready.  What else was there to do other than mess around with light sabers while the ladies were getting their hair and make-up done?  Following the ceremony, the bride and groom exited the church through a light saber arch before proceeding to the circle where they used the light sabers in their bridal party and couple’s portraits.  And last, but not least, the Bridesmaids and Groomsmen made their entrance to the reception battling it out with their light sabers.
  • Mini Light Sabers: In lieu of bubbles or rice, wedding guests were offered mini light sabers (dressed-up glow sticks) to help send the couple off to their reception.
  • Hair Do: Does the bride’s hair style look a little familiar?  It was inspired by Princess Lea’s do in Return of the Jedi.
  • Music: The entrances to the reception we’re to Star Wars songs.
  • Reception Tables: Each of the tables at the reception was a different Star Wars vehicle (see photo below)
  • Cake: From a distance, the scrolling on the cake looked classic.  But if you got a little closer, you’d notice tiny light sabers, Death Stars, and TIE fighters.  Topping the cake were a Princess Lea bride and Han Solo groom.
  • Champaign Glasses: These were engraved with “I love you” and I “know” with Princess Lea buns on her glass and a blaster on his.

DIY Project: Bridesmaid’s sashes/belts were a fun DIY project for the bride and her bridesmaids.  Annie had a belt-making party where each bridesmaid made her own sash, each with a slightly different pattern of sparkles.

Her Somethings: Annie’s something old was her grandma’s hankie, which she carried with her; her something blue was her fantastic shoes; she borrowed a pearl necklace that many of her family members have worn at their weddings; and she sported a new headband for the wedding.
